Sabre Imagery had the honor of attending Ovation’s CHIC fashion show last night. The show featured designs by Nirva and shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti. The Dynasty International models appeared on the picturesque roof deck of Splash Ultra Lounge surrounded by cabañas and highlighted by the evening light. Guests enjoyed a full bar with drinks provided by HPNOTIQ and an assortment of hors d’oeuvres.

In the US alone, more than 14,600 women lose their battle with ovarian cancer each year as less than 20% of cases are diagnosed at the most treatable stage. CHIC: Cure Her in Couture, is an endeavor by Ovations to raise funds for ovarian cancer research, awareness and patient programs. It is a traveling fashion show held at various hotels and venues in the Boston area. Each CHIC event includes hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and a fantastic couture fashion show featuring designs by world-renowned and up-and-coming fashion designers alike!

mb_185x120The flutter of a butterfly’s wings can cause quite a stir! Here at Sabre, we are working with Ovations for the Cure to host a majestic fundraising event, Night of the Monarch. Founded by the late Patty Franchi Flaherty in 2005, Ovations for the Cure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the research, patient treatment and awareness of ovarian cancer. Patty, who lost her mother to the disease over 30 years ago, was diagnosed herself in 1999 and spent five years in remission before being diagnosed a second time in 2005. Determined to be victorious—not just for herself, but for others as well—Patty and 10 intrepid girlfriends embarked on a mission to “save other women from the devastation of ovarian cancer,” and Ovations for the Cure was born.

What began four years ago with a premiere fundraising event, the Stuart Weitzman Fashion Show, has now blossomed into a spectacular twilight gala: Night of the Monarch, featuring the Stuart Weitzman Fashion Show with jewelry designs by A.M. DePrisco Wellesley. Sabre aids in the production of the flagship event by managing the design of the stage area, runway, signage, invitations, programs and show collateral. We also facilitate electronic advertising through the Ovations website and email and coordinate the administration of electronic ticket sales. The show helps raise money to support the organization’s mission; last year’s event helped push Ovations over the $1 million mark in monies directed for ovarian cancer!

The event will take place on September 26, 2009 at the Westin Boston Waterfront and will honor those who face ovarian cancer as well as those who have succumbed to the disease, including a special tribute to Patty Franchi Flaherty. September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Night of the Monarch will be THE local event to show your support to the cause. Visit www.nightofthemonarch.org to reserve your tickets before the chance flies away!

ofc_cmv09On Saturday, May 2, Sabre assisted at yet another successful fundraising event for Ovations for the Cure. This event, the Second Annual Carmen Marc Valvo Fashion Show was held at The Liberty Hotel in Boston and featured local celebrities Joyce Kulhawik, Gretta Monahan, Beth Shelburne and Kelley Tuthill. We handled everything from event planning and production, to event branding and promotion, and even staging set-up and vendor coordination. Sabre produced the video, music, and multimedia pieces shown, all printed collateral pieces, online marketing, and even promotional ads that ran in the Improper Bostonian, Metro, and Boston Event Guide. The show was yet another success for both Sabre and Ovations!

Ovations for the Cure of Ovarian CancerDue to the rapid growth of the organization and its loyal following, Ovations outgrew their previous website. We designed a custom site built in PHP with expanded content and navigation to continue to provide a network of hope and healing to those touched by the disease. This site also features flash animation and video, custom storefront, a user-driven blog, and so much more. We also optimized the site for search engine optimization to achieve a higher ranking. The new site coincided with Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, and has since generated traffic from around the globe.

Since Ovations’ inception in the fall of 2005, Sabre has assisted in pioneering a comprehensive public awareness campaign, including the creation and national distribution of awareness literature for physician offices and the development of public service announcements for television and radio outlining the symptoms of ovarian cancer and how to support the search for a cure.

Commencing in January 2007, Sabre Imagery will be under contract as Ovations’ exclusive creative agency. With the foundation’s 2nd Annual Stuart Weitzman Fashion Show & Luncheon only months away, this year Ovations is turning to Sabre to assist in complementing the event with a robust fundraising and awareness schedule. The support of high-profile companies such as McDonald’s and Neiman Marcus will help to bring increased awareness to the cause. Sabre will work with the Foundation and its partners in developing media packages to assist in promoting Ovations’ mission and establishing the organization as one of the leaders of women’s cancer charities.

This year approximately 22,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and nearly 16,000 will die from this insidious disease. Because the symptoms are silent and easily overlooked, over 70% of women are diagnosed with advanced stages.

When Patricia Franchi, a seven year survivor of ovarian cancer, sought to create an organization to increase ovarian cancer awareness and raise money for research, she turned to longtime friend and visionary Gary Soprano, President of Sabre Imagery, for guidance and direction.

With the organization’s inaugural event, the Stuart Weitzman Fashion Show & Luncheon, only months away, Sabre put forth a comprehensive branding campaign beginning with a name and identity for the foundation. In January 2006, Ovations for the Cure was introduced to potential sponsors and supporters with press materials, business systems, awareness pamphlets and promotional materials. Included in the package was ovationsforthecure.org, an interactive website that features the “Whisper Network” message board, fundraising event information, and a marketplace for donations and purchases.

“Working with Patty Franchi to help her fulfill her dream has been an incredibly rewarding experience for all of us at Sabre,” added Todd Tesseo, Art Director at Sabre. “It has truly been an honor for us to assist Patty in her quest making Ovations for the Cure successful in its mission to help women fight back against ovarian cancer with more knowledge and earlier detection than ever before.
